Researcher Profile

Hilda Klasky

Bio

Ms. Hilda Klasky is a highly accomplished professional with more than 25 years’ direct success in research & development, data, process and engineering analytics, and project management in highly regulated, multidisciplinary environments. She joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory, a leading science and technology laboratory under the direction of the Department of Energy, in 2009. Since that time, she has applied the full breadth and depth of her expertise to make significant contributions as a member of ORNL’s Systems Modeling Group in the Computational Sciences and Engineering Division (CSED).

A poised and articulate communicator, Ms. Klasky has proven instrumental to the successful engagement of project sponsors, key stakeholders, and team members to ensure on-time, in-scope delivery of projects under contract from the Veterans Affairs Administration, National Cancer Institute, US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Idaho National Laboratory (INL), the National French Electrical Utility (Electricite de France), Belgium-FANC, and others. In addition to providing life cycle project management, she has performed hands-on data and process analytics, development and solutions engineering, conducted extensive research to advise on system architecture, collaborated on large-scale technical reviews of safety studies, and designed in-house solutions to improve overall knowledge sharing and information flow. In addition, Ms. Klasky has peer reviewed multiple statements of work and project proposals for different Principal Investigators at the Computing & Computational Sciences Directorate.

She is member of the following professional associations: Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), Senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the Institute for Operations Research and the Management of Sciences (INFORMS),  the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), the Academy Health Association, Senior member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), member the Society for Health Systems (SHS) and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

Ms. Klasky has coauthored over 50 publications and has served as a peer reviewer for several journals and professional associations, including the DOE’s Office of Scientific and Technical Information, ASME Journal of Pressure Vessel Technology, Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), Elsevier Computers & Industrial Engineering Journal, Institute for Operations Research and the Management of Sciences (INFORMS), American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), Academy Health Association (AHA).

Ms. Klasky was invited to present at the IEEE Process Mining Task Force event: Process Mining Camp 2020 as a featured speaker (https://fluxicon.com/camp/2020/#talks-hilda) on June 2020, an international event with 900+ attendees from 15 different time zones. Her presentation was very well received by her professional peers.  Another important presentation of her work can be found at the AMIA Virtual Informatics Summit that took place on May 2020, in which only a reduced number of presentations were selected (https://bluejeans.com/s/uZFer).

Actively involved in growing her skills and competencies, Ms. Klasky has completed training in Big Data Analytics, Process Mining, Software Design & Modeling Techniques (UML), Managing the Software Process, Agile and Scrum, Project Management, Financial Engineering, Information Mapping, Time Management, ORNL Technical Project Officer, and Application of NQA1 SQA to DOE. Ms. Klasky received a Master of Science in Computational Engineering from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Science in Computational Science from Universidad de Guadalajara.
